I'm not sure what conclusion CS Lewis is coming to, so I cannot concur
that our thoughts are even similar. I do see at least one
statement that I categorically disagree with: "The spectacle of the
universe as revealed by experience can never have been the ground of
religion: it must always have been something in spite of which
religion, acquired from a different source, was held."
I suggest that spectacle, especially unexplained spectacle, is an ideal
grounding for religion.
