Hi Mike,
C S Lewis once thought just like you do.
This is an extract from the introduction to his book "The problem of
Pain".
In spite of this unpromising beginning C S Lewis eventually came to see
things quite differently and the book relates the manner of his
development. If I remember rightly I bought this book about 40 years
ago.
